Dear Families, Students, and Community Members,

Welcome to a new school year at Rose Salgado Elementary!

As your principal, I am thrilled to begin this journey together, continuing to grow as a community that values every voice, nurtures every learner, and empowers every student to thrive. At Rose Salgado, we are more than just a place of learning—we are a vibrant, inclusive family united by shared values and a deep commitment to excellence in education.

This year, we are guided by five core values that Rose Salgado held dear to her heart to lead us in everything we do:

Belonging – We strive to create a safe, welcoming environment where every child feels seen, supported, and celebrated. Our classrooms are places where diversity is honored, friendships are built, and all students know they matter.
Empowerment – We believe every student has the ability to think critically, solve problems, and grow with confidence. Through hands-on science learning (NGSS) and rich mathematical thinking (SMPs), we challenge students to ask questions, explore deeply, and believe in themselves.
Accountability – We help students take ownership of their learning and actions. Whether it’s reviewing data from an experiment or reflecting on classroom behavior, our students learn to make thoughtful decisions and grow from their experiences.
Respect – We model and teach kindness, empathy, and active listening. By respecting ourselves and one another, we build a culture of collaboration, curiosity, and trust.
Service (with Self-Awareness) – We guide students to recognize their unique strengths and understand their role in the world. Through community projects, teamwork, and leadership opportunities, our students learn to use their voices and talents to make a positive difference.
